Everyone has different must-haves for their summer bag — and we’re betting yours includes yarn! But there’s something else that might be (gasp) more important, and that’s sun protection! Whether you choose to use mineral or chemical sunscreen, or to stay in the shade, protecting your skin from UV damage is an investment in your future health. To make sun safety more fun, there are tons of super cute options for sunscreen packaging, which got us thinking… “What if these colors were on yarn?”

Start your summer off right and stay inspired to put on your SPF with a seven-day countdown. The box is filled with sunscreen-inspired yarn and the option to treat yourself to other summery notions-pouch essentials! This mystery countdown has six variegated colorways and a final tonal that ties them all together. To make the box accessible to as many people as possible, we have a variety of total yardages available. Each yardage option comes with the ability to include or exclude our Sun-Safe-Tional notions add-on.

This listing is for sock-weight yarn. You can find DK-weight yarn here and spinning fiber here. Our sock-weight yarn is 75% superwash Merino wool, 25% nylon for strength. Your yardage options are:

7 mini skeins — 92 yards/20 grams each. 658 yards/140 grams total.

7 half skeins — 231 yards/50 grams each. 1,617 yards/350 grams total.

7 full skeins — 463 yards/100 grams each. 3,248 yards/700 grams total.

6 variegated mini skeins and one tonal full skein — 1,015 yards/220 grams total.

6 variegated half skeins and one tonal full skein — 1,849 yards/400 grams total.

This is a countdown to summer solstice on June 20th, 2024, intended to be opened daily beginning June 14th. Your yarn will ship approximately two weeks before the first opening day, by May 31st. These boxes are dyed especially for you, and this preorder will close on April 14th, 2024.

Preorder

Preorders open when we release a new collection. The turnaround time for preorder colorways is twelve weeks. If you need something faster, browse our ready-to-ship colorways.

Hand-Dyed Colors

We do our best to take our photos under consistent conditions so you can accurately compare colorways. Different monitors show colors differently, so results may vary based on your computer screen. As with all hand-dyed yarns, variation from skein to skein is normal and to be expected. If you are ordering multiple skeins of the same colorway, we will dye them together or consecutively to minimize variation, but please consider alternating between the skeins throughout your work for the most consistent finished object.

Care Instructions

All yarn is pre-washed in our studio to minimize color bleeding, but should be washed separately or with like colors for the first several washes. We always suggest washing your finished objects by hand in cool water and allowing them to air dry for best results.
