FAQ

What does "dyed to order is paused" mean?

During our busiest show season, we often aren't in the dye studio enough to dye one-off skeins. We love dyeing exactly what you want, so we make it a priority during the times we can, and only pause this offering when we're so busy it isn't possible. You are welcome to browse our DTO catalogue and plan for when we reopen! We send out a notification to our email list when DTO services are available, and post on social media.

Will my dyed-to-order yarn still ship?

Yes! If you ordered before we paused DTO, you will receive your order on our normal timeline.

How can I keep in touch?

You can follow us online on InstagramFacebook, or Threads for updates, or subscribe to our email newsletterFind us in person using our events calendar here. We'd love to see you on our travels!

If you have questions about our yarn or your order, you can email us at info@cesiumyarn.com.

I signed up for your newsletter, why am I not receiving your emails?

For your protection, we verify that you meant to sign up by sending you an email with a verification link. Once you click that link, you will begin receiving our emails. If you're still having trouble, check your spam filters and add info@cesiumyarn.com to your known sender list.

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

We are a small, family-run business and aren’t able to accommodate returns and exchanges. If you have a problem with your yarn, please let us know by emailing us at info@cesiumyarn.com and we will do our best to make it right. See our full return policy here.

Are your wool yarns mulesing free?

Yes. We only work with suppliers who commit to mulesing-free practices.

Is your shop smoke-free?

Yes. All our yarn is dyed and stored in a smoke-free environment. From our suppliers to your mailbox, your yarn will remain safe from smoke contamination.

Is your shop pet-free?

No. Our dye studio itself is free from pets, but your yarn in processing will share an environment with our dog Pixie and our cat Annie. We don’t allow pets on the yarn, but we all know animal fur is the less-sparkly equivalent of fairy dust. If you have animal allergen questions or concerns, please contact us. We understand allergies and want to make our yarn as accessible to you and stress-free as possible.

Where can I find details on your fiber bases?

Get the specifics on our bases here!

What's so special about Shaniko fiber?

Shaniko wool is entirely traceable, 100% US-based wool originating from Oregon. Shaniko sheep are a crossbreed of the Merino and Columbia (Lincoln/Rambouillet) lines and have astounding loft, softness, and strength. We've tried a lot of spinning fiber, and this is our favorite! (If you don't want to spin it yourself, we've got it on yarn, too 😉.)

What happened to your alpaca bases?

After several happy years with alpaca, we've developed an allergy. Unfortunately, we've stopped stocking any bases with alpaca.

If my order includes both ready-to-ship and dyed-to-order skeins, will they ship together or separately? How long will I have to wait to receive them?

All of the items in your order will ship together when the last item is ready. Our dyed-to-order yarn has a turnaround time of up to four weeks, though we try to get your items to you as quickly as possible. Preorders have a turnaround time of twelve weeks. If you want your ready-to-ship items sooner, you can place two separate orders. See our full shipping policy here.
